No-Fuss Boudoir Wardrobe - 6 Things You Might Already Own That You Can Wear to Your Boudoir Photoshoot

I want you to know that Boudoir Photography doesn’t just mean getting into lingerie you’ve never worn (or even owned before) and pose in ways that look unnatural and out of character for you. Some women just don’t relate to the fancy laces, skinny straps, or overly sexualized clothing out there, and that’s totally okay! You can still look and feel AAHHH-MAZING in exactly what is comfortable for you, even if it doesn’t fit the normal lingerie mold.

Boudoir photography is about seeing yourself. Like, really SEEING YOURSELF. The beautiful, powerful, confident self. Does the clothing REALLY matter, then?! HECK NO!

The clothing can show off your style, enhance your curves, or make a statement, but it’s not the centerpiece. YOU are. So stop stressing over what to go out and buy and let’s see if you have any of the following items already waiting for you in your closet.

1. An Oversized sweater or tank top

I love using sweaters or tanks especially at the beginning of a photoshoot. It helps to give your hands something to do (like pull at the fabric), and allows you to loosen up without going right for the grand finale outfit you might feel most vulnerable in. The sweater or tank pairs nicely with a solid colored panty, and I feel like EVERYONE owns at least one of these. You probably even have a favorite that you enjoy lounging in at the end of a long day (with a glass or two of wine).

2. Button Up

The button up shirt can look super casual, but with more scandalous implications if we want. Like you just woke up and threw on your partner’s shirt from the night before, as you head into the kitchen to brew some much needed coffee. We can keep it PG or just use it to barely cover your beautiful skin.

3. Calvin Klein Bra and Panty Set

I know, I said no lingerie, but look how sporty casual we can get with the Calvin Klein bra and panties! These are super cute and ultra comfortable. If this is your style, bring it along to your shoot!

4. Robe, Kimono, or Faux Fur

A little more feminine than the button up shirt, a robe or kimono can be a beautiful and elegant addition to a piece of lingerie, or even topless underneath. It’s all about suggestion here, while keeping you comfortable. These are fun to play with and can provide a ton of dynamic motion to your shots.

5. Crop top

The crop top is a nice balance of sultry and suggestive and still totally casual. There are so many varieties, so I’d love to see what you already have in your closet!

6. Leave it all at home!

You actually don’t need to wear anything at all. Your skin is gorgeous and the nude female body is an art masterpiece, so let’s show it off while we play around with some sheets or sheer, or nothing at all.

There you have it! 6 things you could wear in your boudoir shoot that don’t resemble traditional lingerie at all. I hope this helped! If you’re still stuck or wondering what to wear, let’s chat!
